Today we headed out on the water with our friends at San Juan Safaris - Orca Whale Watching for our first trip of our spring 2025 Bigg's 201 class!

We had to trek quite a ways west into the Strait of Juan de Fuca, but it was worth it to get to meet the newest member of the Bigg's killer whale population, a calf that appears to be the firstborn of T46B3 Sedna. This little one still had prominent fetal folds, leading us to think it's probably just 1-2 weeks old. Here the calf is traveling with its presumed mother as well as its six year-old aunt T46B6 Sol.

Wondering what Bigg's 201 is? You can learn more about it HERE, and make sure to sign up for our e-mail list at the bottom of the page to be the first to know when we open registration for this class again!
